Boomtec Industry Dispatches a 400 kW Natural-Gas Turboexpander-Generator
A magnetic-bearing turboexpander-generator package has left Boomtec Industry's Xi'an factory for a natural-gas pressure-recovery demonstration.
Boomtec Industry has completed assembly and dispatched a 400 kW magnetic-bearing natural-gas turboexpander-generator package from its Xi'an demonstration factory. The unit is intended for an engineering demonstration at a gas-production facility, recovering pressure energy during natural-gas pressure reduction.
Factory-integrated equipment
The skid-mounted package integrates the turboexpander-generator with associated piping and electrical equipment. Its configuration includes two-stage expansion, interstage reheating and outlet-gas reheating to address the temperature drop associated with gas expansion. A full-power converter forms part of the electrical system.
Piping prefabrication and welding, electrical integration checks and simulated testing were carried out at the factory before dispatch.
Assessing another pressure-recovery application
For other natural-gas pressure-recovery applications, equipment selection depends on gas composition, inlet and outlet pressures, flow variation, temperature limits and site safety requirements. Final performance and supply scope are defined in the project-specific technical proposal.
